What Are Quilters Blogging About Today?

The first one is today’s favourite!

These would look better on a bed than the blackout variety.

The only thing I didn’t like in the first one was the way the corner border block was facing … like it better inside out.

I love the design, but it would be rather boring to make … stitching all that white applique to the background!

I think I would make larger blocks which would be less fiddly to work around at the applique stage.

Any two colours could be used in this type of design, and the dark and the light could be reversed.

I haven’t opened this project file for quite some time, and had forgotten just how effective some applique designs could be if treated as a cut out using the outline of the design only.

The hardest part would be choosing the background fabric, and then the contrast for the shapes.

I love the second design.

I love the first design today.

I like the second one too.

I also like the last one, which might make a nice wallhanging.

Sometimes our power system lets us down, sometimes because a power pole falls down, and during one a few weeks ago I was on the computer playing with virtual quilt designs, and thought that it might be worth playing with some designs with the opposite of a white out, and so Textile Inspiration Black Out file was started.

Black on white background … a bit stark for me.

Black on old gold is more my style, but might try a couple of others.

Purple on white looks better than black, though not quite a blackout!

Love this.

I would never have thought of using floral applique block designs without also using colours. I am not sure how I managed to remove all the colours from a quilt top, but I rather liked the effect, and I have one of these on my list of quilts I want to make. Hardest part will be choosing the background colour!
